Geoffrey and his dogs have just finished the Norway Trail. The WSA World Champion 2017 is one of the few Frenchmen who participate in this great competition and he will start the Lekkarod Wednesday for a beautiful end of the season!
Geoffrey, we are delighted to see you again on this 3d edition of the Lekkarod. Last year you were the fastest of the race. What memories do you have of this edition?
The lekkarod is a huge event ! Hard, demanding for the musher and the dogs. That’s incredible memories. To get up in the morning and to have pain everywhere; to be at the top of the Col de la Madeleine with my dogs or facing a sunset on the Galibier. These are great moments !
Where do you come from and what is your background in the mushing?
I started mushing at 18 ; I first started with Siberian husky for 7 years on sprint races then I went to the Hound and gradually to mid distance
Can you introduce your dogs?
All my dogs were born at home except Raven that I brought back from Alaska last year during the trip Lekkarod (note: this trip was the prize offered to the winner), I love all my dogs but like many of mushers I feel very close to my leader Timmie. He is amazing, he knows me perfectly. He knows in advance the kilometers that await us on the stages! I owe him a lot.
What type of competition do you like to participate in?
Races that combine the effort of the dogs with that of the musher in a grandiose landscape
What were or will be the highlights of this season?
For me, the 2 major events for this season are Norway Trail and Lekkarod
For this 3rd edition of the Lekkarod, what is your goal?
I hope to do as well as last year but the competition is tough!
3 words to summarize the Lekkarod …?
Friendliness, friendship, love of the dog!
